I do not wear skirts and other society labelled clothing to support Feminism or to feminise men as many believe or state. I do so as freedom of choice and preference for me. I do so for the same freedom that women now have for appearance and clothing.

DO NOT STAY ON THIS SITE IF YOUR VIEW OF MEN IN SKIRTS IS NEGATIVE. YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME FOR I AM ON THIS SUBJECT  AS DOGMATIC AS YOU AND I DO MAKE MY STAND IN THE REAL WORLD.

With gender issues I'm a genuine Egalitarian "believe in the principle that people are equal and deserve equal rights/opportunities"

I also firmly believe in Androgyny, the combination of male and female characteristics.

I also firmly believe clothes have no gender in this era. Society certainly allows for women these days, I say not for men as well.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander also be yourself because an original is worth more than a copy.

"The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members"

Coretta Scott King 1927-2006 Author, Activist, Civil Rights Leader

I believe we are all human beings, all individuals and all are unique but I firmly believe that respect and understanding should be afforded to all even if you do not want or can be part of their lives. Sadly this is too much for society as the past repeatedly shows. This site has many sub sections touching on this particular subject.

This site is here not to ask your permission. It is here to promote mens freedom of choice, expression and individuality via clothing, to let other would be men know that they are not the only one. It allows me to put my voice, my views into the open arena especially when others want to learn about men like me but never ask directly. To let those who want their freedom of choice but question others to hear the other side but that section of society I doubt would ever come to this site. A man is always questioned if he deviates away from a society expectation, especially by women, but when it suits those others they can never be queried!

Society is obsessed with its biased labels and opinions, at times selfishly. I believe in free speech, differing views, outlooks, we cannot all be the same, agree to disagree move on respect each others positions. However it is how free speech is applied and sadly many who proclaim it fall foul of this quote of Winston Churchill:-

"Some peoples idea of free speech is that they are free to say what they like but if anyone says anything back, that is an outrage"

Winston Churchill 1874 - 1965 MP & former UK Prime Minister

To deny the female gender their individuality, empowerment, freedom of choice, expression etc in this modern era is misogynist, sexist, discriminatory, even domestic violence if a partner expresses his preferred clothing preference for his partner. Not so for men though.

All reasons for or against men in skirts, in fact invading the female wardrobe apply equally to women now in trousers, and openly invading the male wardrobe via styles even actual mens clothing. The difference is society, with its labels, assigns all clothing these days for women and labels as such, but men still have to be confined to society expectations and stereotypes.

"In some ways going to the mountains is incomprehensible to many people and inexplicable by those who go. The reasons are difficult to unearth and only with those who are similarly drawn is there no need to try and explain."

          Joe Tasker British Mountaineer 1948 - 1982

The above quote and next three apply to many aspects of society where others question another but expects of themselves, pontificates on how one should appear and behave yet not look at their own idiosyncrasies of life that others may see of them. For a man in a skirt it is just as applicable.

"Even with the most deeply-held differences, treating the other person with respect and as a fellow human being is always a good first step towards greater understanding"

HM Queen Elizabeth II - UK Queen 1953 -     b. 1926 (25th December 2018)

Clare Bradley, 2020 winner of Great British Sewing Bee. The Telegraph 2nd July 2020.

"I have tried to reply to children saying 'make things that challenge you, and wear things that make you happy'. It's something I only came to in my 30s. In my 20s, I dressed really boringly. But then I stopped giving a damn what other people think and I make and wear things that make me happy, and if other people like them, too, that's lovely - and if they don't, they can push off."

These next two phrases regularly appear on social media, in varying words but still giving the same message:

"who in the hell are you to tell me what I can and can't wear"

"More importantly, what gives them the right to force me to stop wearing trousers" (pants, not trousers for Americans).

Always by women and always when some aspect of society questions there clothing choice or suggests it should be restricted. Mysogyny etc usually follows, yet with regards men, as so often within society on many aspects of life, men are questioned, challenged, expected to conform to expectations, stereotypes even as often happens, dismissed as not being relevant.

A recent example appeared in The Daily Telegraph as follows but social media is full of similar statements by women.

"...But credos for camouflage should be balanced by the notion that older women might also like to dress creatively, charismatically, individually, dramatically and joyfully, with size, shape and age no barrier to fashion and flair...."

Jan Masters - The Telegraph 26th May 2022 in her article about why she will not conform to a society expectation of clothing expectation at the age of 60.

I am a firm believer that individuality, freedom of choice and expression is an absolute must in this modern era for all. Labels, stereotyping of individuals should not apply. Provided no physical harm is done to others. However, in this modern era, this freedom and breaking of society shackles only applies to women, where men are still expected to conform, behave and appear as society has expected for men for the last 200 years.

"The challenge for us is to give each other space to grow and to change. To be different and to see things differently. But does that demand too much of us? Does it require a change of heart and perspective? Is that too much to ask? Christianity teaches it can never be too much, but all to often we fail in that challenge because we demand that others change first. We see the fault in the other but not ourselves. We don't always appreciate the difference in our role of democracy and culture or see it as building a society not diminishing it. History has seen to many attempts to eradicate those who dare to be different but its intolerance of people and ideas that threaten our democracy not difference. Difference brings it to life."

This quote is part of Thought for The Day, BBC Radio 4, 16th June 2017,  by Francis Campbell, Vice Chancellor of St Mary's University, London.

"Our differences are our strength as a species and as a world community"

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela 2012

"Someone despises me. That’s their problem. Mine: not to do or say anything despicable. Someone hates me. Their problem. Mine: to be patient and cheerful with everyone, including them. Ready to show them their mistake. Not spitefully, or to show off my own self-control, but in an honest, upright way."

Marcus Aurelius AD121 - AD180 Roman Emperor AD161 - AD180 and Philosopher

"Unless I am myself, I am nobody"

Virginia Woolf 1881-1941 - writer

People always stare. Always have, always will, after all they are the only ones who are correct so I say make their stare worth their while and simply be you.

I ask that you read this obituary that appeared in the Daily Telegraph on the 24th February 2011. Chris Dale, mountaineer who specialised in bold and new climbs with minimal protection who also loved exploring old mines and solo caved. He also liked wearing 'women's' clothing and purchased them at shops wearing such clothing. Read this article but look deeper into it as you do and just note what Chris Dale was like as a person. He did take the wearing of clothes society deem as womens wear only by adding wigs, make up etc, something I do not do, but it was obviously something he needed to do and why should society say otherwise. He was not doing others any physical harm.

We are all human beings, with the same feelings, emotions, preferences, and all capable of projecting likes and dislikes. We are all subject to human society brain washing, labelling, stereotyping and placing of expectations on others as individuals and as groups. Many are capable of expecting for themselves, denying others and labelling groups upon the actions of a few.

"Walk away from anything that gives you bad vibes. There is no need to explain anything or make sense of it. It is your life, do what makes you happy."

Society on the whole believes not wearing anything that it insists as being 'macho, powerful, dominant' style clothing, which it perceives are styled like or is menswear, is making that individual weak, effeminate etc. I say the person defines the person not what he or she wears.

Why under gender equality and gender neutral within clothing it needs to be styled and fashioned on traditional mens attire to be considered as being gender equal, gender neutral? Is this another example of female Matriphobia - the fear of becoming like one's mother?

Why not traditional womens style of clothing, or even better a mix and or combination of both traditional mens and womens?

Women in this modern era, certainly since the 1980's now have a mix of both traditional male and female clothing and without question! All reasons for or against a man in a skirt or other clothing society still labels as for women only apply equally to women who now adopt male style clothing when not so long ago society banned and frowned upon such activity. To those who think men like me are queers, faggots, dysfunctional even LGBT then all women who now adopt clothing that is basically from the male wardrobe and what society confines me to must be the same. Metathesiophobia is the fear of change or changing and with regards mens choice of clothing society seems to have this unlike for women.

Diversity is the understanding that individuals are unique and recognise their individual differences. It is undertaken by many within their own individual lives and for varying reasons. Taken for granted by themselves for themselves, yet some question the diversity of others. This site concentrates on my clothing preference as a man, just like many other men around the world, mostly hiding behind closed doors. I do not hide though!

Diversity applies to all and there for all. Even Father Christmas embraces diversity!
